GBARC Meeting Minutes April 2018

An introduction of everyone present was done.    

Secretary Report:

Dean-K9FLO reviewed the minutes from the February 12 meeting,   Recommended for Approval by Chuck-WD9BB seconded by Kevin-KC9PZI and the membership approved as read.

Treasurer Report:

Greg-K9GJN gave the current treasurer’s report.    Motion to approve Treasurer Report by Chuck-WD9BB and seconded by Lyndon-WA9JLD.       

Old Business:

Brett-K9BY reviewed the results from the Winter Field Day event.    We placed 24th in the country and 2nd in the State, we did excellent this year!      Brett-K9BY discussed some improves we can do for next year’s event.       

New Business

Nominations for three Board positions was do last month, but do to the weather, last month’s meeting was cancelled.   The membership decided to have the nominations and election of three officers tonight.    Nominations were called for and Brett-K9BY, Lyndon-WA9JLD and Chuck-WD9BB self-nominated.     The Secretary Dean-K9FLO opened it to the floor for additional nominations; none were heard nominations were closed.     Carl-W9BJ made motion that these be nominated by acclimation.     Carl-W9BJ made a motion that the elected nominees be elected, seconded by Kevin-KC9PZI.    Membership approved the election nominees.

Brett had an e-mail from Ray Turner who has a 30’ Rohn tower to taken down.    It was decided to first check it over after a drive-by was done and when Brett-K9BY receives the address.    Janesville Rotary club has asked us to provide assistance for the PIE ride which is the third weekend in June and Brett-K9BY said we would.     Ham-fest in Stoughton this Saturday 4/7.     Brett-K9BY informed us that the Summer Field Day event is secured at the Janesville Fire Dept. training grounds.    We had a discussion on the initial plans for 2018 summer field day event.

Program

Kurt Eversole – KE9N gave an excellent presentation on the Magnetic loop antennas.   Kurt did extensive explanations on the theory, the pros and cons, building including design and parts.    Kurt brought his loop antenna in which he displayed the mechanics of the antenna.    Thank you Kurt 73s.
