Secretary Report:
Dean-K9FLO read the minutes from our January 3, 2022 video meeting. Recommended for Approval by Chuck-wd9bb and seconded by Lyndon-wa9jld.
Treasurer Report: Greg-K9GJN presented the Treasurers report. We still have a good balance in our club account. Dues have not been deposited yet, I am waiting for more monies to come in. You can mail in your dues to Greg-k9gjn’s QTH or use PayPal at: GBARCrockhamradio [dot] com and use “family and friends”. Greg-k9gjn club dues is $20 and if you are paying repeater dues it is $20 separate payments, please. Motion to approve the treasurers report by Chuck-wd9bb and seconded by Lyndon-wa9jld.
Old Business:
Brett-k9by we are still looking for a new club call sign. Brett-k9by our Winter Field Day initial results total contacts: 219, total contact points 1918, we operated about 14.5 hours starting at 1:47pm (started late due to set-up issues) stopped Sunday 1:30. Contact breakdown: 80m 29, 40m 135, 20m 52, 15m 3; CW: 55, phone: 164. 204 US, 15 CA, top operator was Jim-kd9gdy followed by Kurt-ke9n, Greg-k9gjn. The State we got were AK, HI (rare ones) We Discussed our antenna set-up issues. Our clamming score with all options will be 4836! Brett-k9by showed everyone the program used to validate the call signs for field day. Brett-k9by thanked everyone on their correct entries. One of our antennas was compromised and thanks to Chuck-wd9bb for providing a G5RV emergency backup! Brett-k9by and everyone on line thanked Chuck-wd9bb for providing the use of his location, facilities, Greg-k9gjn for great Chile, Jim-kd9gdy for hot-dogs & corn bread, Kurt-ke9n for providing his Gen-Set for emergency power, the antenna set-upper-ers (who froze their feet) And the operators who made it very successful event!! Brett-k9by will try to submit the logs this weekend. Brett-k9by would like to do a week-end Arduino boot-camp one of the coming weekends, I will send Dean-k9flo a list to e-mail.
New Business:
Jim-kd9gdy will we be involved in WI QSO party. We generally do it individually but submit your form as a club “Greater Beloit ARC”. Last year we had a presenter from Racine talking about the WI QSO party, I will check to see if he is available for our March 7th meeting. Dean-k9flo are we going to have table at the Jefferson Hamfest? Jeff Field Day is March 20th, tickets door is $7, tables $15, set-up and vendors starting at 6am, doors open 8am still at the County fairgrounds. How many Tables? Discussed and decided we reserve 4 tables. A motion to reserve 4 tables (hopefully in the corner) by Dean-k9flo and seconded by Lyndon-wa9jld. Motion approved. Greg-k9gjn will address. If you want to donate back to the club, feel free too. Brett-k9by looking for a volunteer to do a presentation on use and application of a VNA. Kurt-ke9n has offered to present VNA.
Foot Note: Greg-k9gjn confirmed we have the Janesville Fire Dept training site reserved for this year’s Summer Field Day.
Chuck-wd9bb told everyone about a fellow ham who checks in to the senile net from New Orleans Big John-N5DHB. Big John-N5DHB also runs a evening net from New Orleans called “The Rare Ones” on 7,275 week nights starting 7:30pm. Big John has been sending Chuck a goodie box with all kinds of New Orleans local goodies.
