Old Business:

Brett-k9by we received a thank-you letter from the Janesville Rotary thanking all the participants.     Brett-k9by informed everyone the communication worked very well including the first time use of APRS.     We hope to be participating next year.   We did not receive T-shirts or pies.      We had a discussion about ideas, and thoughts and to help again next year.

Field Day Review:       Brett-k9by: Field day numbers: 1334 contacts, 4368 points, total operational time: 23h, 35 min (one contact about every 20mins per 24hrs).   Field Day photos are posted on our web site.     Contacts by modes we had: CW 516, Phone, 484, Digital 334, by Bands: 6m 86, 10m 60, 15m 126, 80m 215, 40m 421, 20m 426.   States: Tx, Pa, Oh, Hi, Virgin Is, Gr, Porta Rico and many more.    Operator points: 1-Bob-w9ewz, 2 Kevin-kc9pzi, 3-Greg-k9gjn, 4 Donn-k9da, 5 Dan-k9ibm, Ed-kb9ndp, 7 Andy-kd9esm, 8-Chris-n9oeg, 9-Carl-w9bj, 10-Al-kc9qqo, 11-Len-n9lem, 12-Kim-n9ubj, 13-Brett-k9by.    Brett-k9by thought all our modes especially FT-8 were very successful!   The satellite system had some technical issues so we were not able to make any contacts (try again next year).    We had a lengthy discussion on all the very good numeric results for the Field Day event.    Our bonus points: 300 generator 3A, 100 Radio Messaging (pending), 100 Training (Carl-w9bj, 100 Safety officer (Greg-k9gjn), 100 formal invitation.

Recommendations next year: Carl-w9bj recommended having supper in shifts and Greg-k9gjn suggested having a hot pot, snacks available for the all-nighters.   Brett-k9by suggested setting up a “Go to Station”, pursue Publicly (paper, radio, TV), Pubic place (business parking lot?), Information table, Alternative power (solar, battery, atomic), W1AW Bulletin, Check List , Elected Official, Youth participation, Social Media (our Facebook: open).    If we had done the above, instead of 760 we could have had 800-1400 points.

Brett-k9by suggested we have Station Captains responsible each radio station and make a check list for the small thing we forget: wrenches, Bug spray, Sign sheets, PC issues, missing rope, mount banner.   Greg suggested we buy grounding hook up taps, Lyndon will check into.

Antennas: Brett-k9by brought up the idea of having the Hex beam for 6m-20m and installed on the 60’ tower with the rotor and a 6m Omni side mounted.    It was also suggested buying a third OCD to be strung towards the quarry.     Conrad-w9dl what is the status on the club call sign, Brett-k9by we have a club sign but we are pursuing a shorter call sign.

Chuck-wd9bb announced that he had his 10,000 contact on the senile net and it was Conrad-w9dl!
