Old Business:
Pie-ride is 6/18 Saturday: Brett-k9by the Rotary had contacted Bandt Communication to see if they would donate commercial radios and repeater time, which they agreed to. After some discussion it was decided that since the Rotary club now has access to commercial radios there is no need for amateur radio help. Brett-k9by sent a note the Rotary club letting them know that the club no longer views the Pie Ride as a club activity. Waiting for any response.
ARRL Field Day June 25-26 2022. Bob-w9ewz has volunteered to be one of the CW operators and Jim-kd9gdy. Bret-k9by looking for station equipment: Brett-k9by will bring his 7300, Greg-k9gjn his Yaesu FT991. Brett-k9by has purchased a Triplexer will bring for Dean to test. Greg-k9gjn should have a second digital station for FT8 and Dean’s Yaesu FT991 for the SSB station. Greg-k9gjn we had a discussion on option AC power do to fuel cost. Maybe setup a couple of portable Gens. Greg-k9gjn will contact Lyndon-wa9jld for ideas. We discussed different power options: genset, solar/batteries. Carl-w9bj informed everyone the ARRL changed power output levels to a maximum of 100watts per station. Brett-k9by they also changed the Covid-19 changes and made them permanent (class D can now contact other class D stations for points and except multiple submissions for same club affiliation). Bob-w9ewz inquired about Dan-k9ibm, Greg-k9gjn said he has heard him on 2M and Doug Spears has also moved from Texas back to Madison. Brett-k9by has not heard from Kevin-kc9pzi about field day, will contact, and Al-w6alh/kc9qqo will be here but has some business meetings to attend. Bonus points: media points need proof of contact. Public location we don’t qualify, public info table same as last year, need to send a msg to section manager, field day msg to other clubs did not work, we will have a Satellite station (thanks to Andy-kd9esm). Alternate power we will have a solar panel setup, w1aw bulletin, (Kurt will take care of), education activity: looking for volunteer, election official (elected and or served agency present and a to go station. Brett-k9by we need to make sure our site is safe (walking, overhead hazards, cable dressed, roadways marked for hazards. Food: Greg-k9gjn will provide BAR-B-Q, Chili, chips and the Blackstone for breakfast. Greg-k9gjn would like to pick up towers at Chuck-wd9bb QTH Thursday before field day. Greg-k9gjn said Rusty- will be available to do FT8. Brett-k9by and Greg-k9gjn discussed the tarps, tables and setup. Dean-k9flo suggested having a pre field day meet-me on Wednesday the 22nd, agreed.
New Business:
Greg-k9gjn informed everyone Tom-n9tom has retired from Ham Radio and will no longer be doing the Wednesday night GBARC 147.12 Net. Greg-k9gjn would like to have enough volunteers to have a weekly rotation to keep the Net on the air. There will be a script provided for the volunteers. Dean-k9flo has sent out an E-mailing to members looking for volunteers and to contact Greg-k9gjn.
