GBARC Meeting Minutes October 2016

President Brett-K9BY, called the meeting to order at 7:03 pm.   Attendance was 20.   Introductions were made. The question of the evening was:  Did you assist in the ARES Simulated Emergency Test (SET) Oct. 1st?   Eight hams said yes.   Minutes of the Sept.12th, 2016 meeting are on the club website.   Club Treasurer, Al-KC9QQO, presented theTreasurers Report. 
Old Business: Al-KC9QQO, discussed the successful ARES SET for this year.  Some problems, like a missing microphone at the EOC, were overcome.
Greg-K9GJN said that the club has applied and received a FRN number from the FCC.  He will be the Trustee for our new license.  We will finalize the application form for the new club license at the November meeting.   A club banner will be purchased when we receive the new call sign.
We should have a Suggestion Box at the Nov. meeting.
WD9BB-Chuck, shared some literature from the Belvidere Hamfest.  Al-KC9QQO, won the Door Prize of a Yaesu FT1D VHF/UHF Handitalkie.  He also purchased a tower climbing body safety harness and a tripod at good prices.  The weather threatened rain and the hamfest was smaller this year.
New Business: Brett-K9BY, proposed a 2 meter Fox Hunt for Sat. Oct, 22nd.  Prizes will be available; details will be emailed and announced on our networks.
Brett-K9BY, reiterated that he plans to update the club website with a new design sometimes soon.
Chuck-WD9BB, reported on progress on making printed circuit boards.  He was getting sub-par results; more experimenting is needed.
Brett-K9BY, will purchase two Off-Center-Fed (OCF), All-Band, dipole antennas, 300 Watt Models, for 2017 Field Day use.  Greg-K9GJN will try to reserve the Janesville Fire Training Facility for our use for the 2017 Field Day effort.
An Illinois Ham club activated the Ice Age Trail Nation Park in Rock County, in cooperation with the ARRL program.
Program:  Dave Wendt, N9GQ/VE3EAC was present and discussed selling his house and moving his possessions to Kingston, ON, Canada.  Dave wants to sell his Drake L4B Amp, an ICOM 746 pro, and a 5KW 20 Meter Amp. 
Brett-K9BY and Greg-K9GJN, discussed the Digital Repeater activity; it is increasing.
Two raffles were held; one for goodies from Conrad-W9DL and one for cash.  Brett-K9BY won the 3 items and Greg-K9GJN won $28.  Greg donated it to the club.
Announcements:  On Oct. 18, in Madison, Kermit Carlson-W9XA, of Batavia, IL, the new ARRL Central Division Director, will be featured at a multi-club meeting; 7:00 pm at the UW Space Center, 2300 S. Park St.   Contact Bob Urban-W9EWZ for more information.  Our next meeting is Monday, November 7th, 2016.
