GBARC Meeting Minutes September 2007

President Dave Wendt, N9GQ, called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM.
 
The rest of the year all club meetings will fall on the first Monday of the month.    October 1, November 5, and December 3rd.    Please mark your calendar.
 
 
 
Dave asked what have you have been doing this summer relating to ham radio.    N9GQ, Dave, installed a tracking system (APERS) in his car and traveled to Alberta, Canada on his 2-week trip (around two countries).  Dave also passed around his summer building project of a 40-meter kit transceiver, MMR-40, SSB and CW, 7 watts output.  Can be held in the palm of your hand.   Also, a home-brew Noise Generator was shown.   W9BJ, Carl, spent much time fixing up and cleaning up old equipment.   Climbing belts for tower work were reconditioned for use this fall.    N9BUL, Tom, got a lot of his ham radio paperwork cleaned up with his DX and contest logs.  W9AFW, Ivan, got his 40 meter antenna up plus runs the Senile net every morning on 14.287 MHz at 8 to 9 local time, N9SZV, Ron, added information to the WEB page for the club plus getting all his equipment grounded.   W9DL, Conrad, worked on Charlie’s, WB9YWL, QTH.   He sold the antenna and got his shack and machine shop taken care of.  When cleaning out we had something for everyone from Charlie’s shack.   W9PN, Doug, started his DXCC award again and he is doing quite well.   W9HME, Paul, completed his 3700-mile vacation to Canada and Alaska.    N9JDQ, Dave, is working DX with his new general class and the beam.   He also runs the Beloit Amateur Radio Club, 2-meter net every Wednesday at 7:30 PM.   Dave also displayed his QSL card that commemorated the Navaho Indians “Code Talkers “ of WWII.    W9AFW Ivan served with those American Indian Marines on the island of Saipan, in the South Pacific.

New/Old Business
 
Field Day Report:  N9BUL, Tom, had a notice in the shopper, but the Beloit Daily News lost their article and apologized. They will run something for the club later on.   W9PN, Doug, had the Janesville Gazette come with a photographer and they did nice article with pictures in the paper.   Also Deputy Fire Chief Bryan Northrop came out and looked at our Field Day site.   He said he could get a place behind the Fire Station up on Cranston Rd. for next year’s field day.   We would have a lot more exposure to the public.
 
President Dave Wendt, N9GQ, asked what we could have for programs this fall.    Some suggestions were:  Show and Tell your old QSL cards, Programs on Logbook, Ham Radio DX Cluster computer, logging by the computer, Stamps on old QSL cards, Win link and getting ready for Field day 2008.
 
Questions on the WEB page.  Club approved putting membership on the WEB page.  The treasurer report will be given with no money posted.  The recording secretary can post minutes with one other officer approval.  Then the minutes read at the regular meeting.    Club dues are to be collected on the first of the calendar year.   The Mission Statement for the Beloit Amateur Club as posted on the WEB page to be read and reviewed by the members for discussion at the next meeting.  The president will have a review of by-laws at the next meeting.
 
The RADIO EXPO Hamfest is September 29th Saturday and Sunday the 30th at the Boone County Fairgrounds in Belvidere, IL
